Australian Hammer Supplies Hire And Epiroc

Australian Hammer Supplies Hire & Epiroc Attachments

Australian Hammer Supplies Hire (AHSH) might be run by a relatively small team, but when it comes to both the range and size of the earthmoving equipment they have available for dry hire, there’s nothing small about it.

Originally starting out in attachment hire, the range has evolved considerably, now specialising in hammers, shears, magnets, pulverisers, compaction plates, drum cutters and screening buckets — with Epiroc being the main supplier of attachments. A large fleet of hire excavators from Kubota, Caterpillar and Kobelco has also been added, ranging in size from 1.7t all the way up to 74t, making Australian Hammer Supplies Hire one of Australia’s largest and most impressive hire companies.

Mitch’s Story

Mitch himself stepped into the earthmoving equipment hire and sales industry after leaving school and has since developed a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the business.

“I started working with moving through the workshop, parts, service and administration areas of the business. This gave me great skills to be able to start AHS Hire in April 2010. In this time my team has grown to 30 staff. Our specialty is attachment hire (it’s the part of the business I enjoy the most). We can hire any attachment to any make or model of excavator for a duration of one day or one month,” Mitch continued.

“We have a large order of silent demolition tools (shears, combi cutters, magnets, drum cutters) on order with the factory that we expect to see in the coming months, and we are excited about bolstering this product line. HATCON, Epiroc’s telematics device, is another feature we are looking forward to developing with the factory.”

Focus on Customer Experience

EEM recently caught up with one of the owners, Mitchell Pennell, and Operations Manager Chrissy Walker to talk shop and see how the business has been tracking over the last 12 months.

Australian Hammer Supplies Hire has built up a great relationship over the many years of operations and the team highly values these ongoing customers. With the impressive Epiroc range available, along with the huge amount of recent infrastructure projects and lack of stock from many manufacturers, the AHS Hire team has welcomed a vast number of new customers in recent years.

Chrissy explained:

“Our focus is providing an amazing experience for each of our customers regardless of if they are hiring for one day or one year. We have our team of drivers that will deliver to site at 7am in the morning and pick up late. This is to simplify the process for our customers. Or if they would prefer to collect, we have a great space here at our office/warehouse with plenty of access for quick and easy pickups.”

Chrissy continued:

“I have been working in construction my whole life, in both sales and operational teams. I enjoy the operational side of the business mostly because I enjoy being able to supply a service to customers to make their tasks and job easier. Our team at AHS Hire is small and growing but we all help each other to reach our common goal — customer satisfaction. Our employees come from various industries with their own experiences and expertise, and we enjoy working and growing together to reach our company goal.”

Building the Epiroc Partnership

Building the Epiroc range and working with Glenn Illingworth, Business Development Manager Business Partners at Epiroc Australia, has been an important aspect of the business for AHS Hire. The relationship has been in place for over a decade now.

Being a family-run business, AHSH’s aim is to maintain its family values as it grows. Glenn and his team also share those values, which makes the AHS Hire and Epiroc relationship enjoyable and easy.

AHS Hire are constantly adding new Epiroc Attachments to their hire fleet.
